German Cockroach
The German cockroach is probably the most common seen in
homes. They are light brown in color and usually have 2 dark
stripes running from the head along their back and are about a
half inch in length when full grown. They shy away from light
and prefer moist, warm dark places. They can usually be found
under sinks, in corners, cracks, behind refrigerators, under
ovens or piles of boxes. The egg capsules, usually hanging out
of their abdomen can yield 20-40 nymphs or baby roaches. German
roaches are one of the fastest reproducing of all the different
types of pest designated roaches. If you see even 1, there may
be hundreds that you don’t see. They eat anything.
Dial 18 Combat Roach Bait Stations - 12 Month
When dealing with roaches, a multi-pronged attack utilizing a variety of roach control products is usually the best approach. In my experience, combat roach bait stations work well for long term control after using chalk or gel for the initial roach population downsizing. I've also found that although Chalk and gel do work great initially, they seem to loose their potency after a few weeks. My only gripe with combat roach bait stations is that they sometimes give off a not so pleasent odor. The odor does seem to fade over time. Other than that, they work. One other thing to remember is to always mark the date on the bait stations so you know when it's time to replace. Also note that bigger roaches like the American cockroach are not going to fit in these bait stations. Those roaches need a foot stomp or a can of raid.

Boric Acid
Powder
Derived from naturally occurring borax and first registered
as an insecticide in the early 1940's, boric acid in powder
form has been a popular roach control remedy for decades. The
reason for its popularity is that it works. Boric powder is
best applied to areas of high roach traffic like underneath or
behind refrigerators, ovens and sinks. Make sure to sprinkle
boric acid only in areas that are not easily accessible to
young children or pets. Boric acid is abrasive to the
exoskeleton of a cockroach and is also a stomach poison that
not only affects roaches but ants, termites and silverfish.
