American Cockroach

The largest of the home infesting roaches, the American cockroach can range in size from 1 to 1.5 inches. The full grown roaches usually have wings and may fly when disturbed or agitated. The immature roaches look similar to the full grown minus the wings. They are usually found in sewers, basements around pipes and dumpsters. They prefer warm temperatures and can't handle cold. Adults have about a 1 year life span and can produce around 150 offspring. If these roaches happen to be in your home it may be due to cold or wet weather.

Asian Cockroach

This roach is often times mixed up with the German roach. They look very similar. Light attraction and flight ability is what sets them apart from the German roach. These roaches can fly over 100ft. They prefer lighted areas. You might see them near your light fixtures or even on your TV or computer display. Elimination of these roaches requires some extra effort and persistence.

Oriental Cockroach

Sometimes referred to as water bug, the Oriental Cockroach is a patron of cool, damp and dark areas.  These roaches are often times prevalent in and around sewer pipes. They live off of filth, are dark in color and resemble a beetle more than a roach. The adults do have wings and may fly when stressed.

Smokey Brown Cockroach

Although not as large as the American cockroach, the Smokey Brown cockroach is a close second. They are very similar to the American cockroach. These roaches are found mostly outdoors in ground cover or mulch. If they do enter they home, an attic or low traffic storage room is where you might see them.
